The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators is one of the world’s leading centres of excellence for the development of arbitration, mediation and other forms of dispute resolution at all levels.
The European Branch is a significant and unique part of the Institute’s international dispute resolution organisation since it covers the entire continent of Europe.
For its Spring 2010 Conference and AGM, the European Branch has been cordially invited to the capital city of Edinburgh by the Institute’s Scottish Branch. This will enable the membership of both Branches and their guests and other delegates to enjoy genuine Scottish hospitality and also enjoy a number of discussions, talks and presentations related to international arbitration and mediation.
The new Arbitration (Scotland) Act 2010 will feature prominently in our presentations, and we shall also consider Scottish arbitration within a global context. In addition, the Conference will address how mediation, expert determination and other forms of ADR are conducted in Scotland and across Europe, thus allowing an informative and comparative discussion.
The European Branch’s Spring 2010 Edinburgh Conference will also offer an excellent opportunity to hear a wide range of views on multi-tier dispute resolution clauses, and the event promises to be very cosmopolitan and varied in its composition, subject matter and speakers.
The conference will be addressed by a number of well established and distinguished individuals from industry, the legal profession and other business professionals from across continental Europe and Scotland.
Our conference will be hosted in The Roxburghe Hotel, one of the Edinburgh’s oldest and most elegant boutique hotels, situated on Charlotte Square in the city’s beautiful New Town area, within sight of the city’s famous Edinburgh Castle.
The Conference will include a Gala Dinner held in the Roxburghe Hotel on the evening of 16 April 2010, which will be addressed by Joe Behan FRICS, President of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
PARTNER PROGRAMME
In addition to the Conference proceedings there will also be a Partner Programme comprising a tour of the historical city of Edinburgh and its surroundings and further details will be announced nearer to the Conference dates.
GALA DINNER The Conference Programme will include a Gala Dinner on the evening of Friday 16 April 2010, which will be held in the Roxburghe Hotel, Edinburgh. The cost of the Gala Dinner and the informal dinner on Saturday 17 April are included in the delegate’s Conference Fee.
TRAVEL The Roxburghe Hotel is a short drive (20 minutes) from Edinburgh Airport, which is conveniently and easily reached from many parts of Europe and the UK. Taxis and buses from the airport are available. The hotel is also a very short walk from Edinburgh’s main railway stations, at Waverley and at Haymarket.
